Dino Types and Hunting?

So I noticed that so far there are 4 dino types revealed: T-Rex, Raptor, Acid Raptor, and Electric Raptor. And I believe in another post someone brought up the potential of aggressive herbivores that could charge and stomp you. Since there are elemental mutated I wonder just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Does that mean that dinosaurs have weaknesses we can exploit Like Monster Hunter or Horizon Zero Dawn? Certain builds to better fight certain dinos with elemental resistances, or maybe those elemental types deploy strategies you have to watch out for? It opens up lots of questions for how the game can be played and what to expect.

P.S. TBH, this post is just me just trying to keep the conversation going and build some hype around the game with what little we know so far lol.

I suspect there’ll be fire :fire: and ice / snow :snowflake: dinos.

I honestly wouldnt doubt it at all lol. With the mutated dinos concept, it opens up the door to so many possiblities.
Mega versions of existing dinos like a Mega Rex to the already set T-Rex.
Altered versions like a Gilded (Golden) Rex. Which would just be a gold scaled version of the T-Rex that is maybe a rare spawn and drops more…something? Or an Armored Rex, with a stronger, scalier, more plated hide appearance to the regular T-Rex
Heck. Even some holiday versions are potentially possible. Maybe a Carnotaurus with a pumpkin head for a Halloween event. A Spinosaurus with a furry, white winter coat for Winter.
The skys the limit.

There’s 3 other Raptor varieties that were revealed in the trailer that don’t have names yet.

Are there? I rewatched the trailer and I didnt notice. The only 3 types I saw were the 3 also mentioned on the website page…

I would say watch the trailer again, there are indeed at least one I can remember that we haven’t named publicly yet

Interesting lol. Ill have to do just that and frame by frame it.

For those inclined. I did indeed watch the trailer again frame by frame and did see a couple more types that havent been identified lol. Wow.

Click on text to expand screenshots.

First one seems to have horn

The second one has fire red / orange / yellow pattern, different to normal raptors

The third one seems to have bony look on head and hands / claws and albino in colour

The fourth one is flying dinos. You can spot them in background in sky. One was burning

I originally suspected it was a screecher type. One that is found and puts out a call to others to converge on the players. But usually those types are found alone and this was in its own pack, so itll be interestesting to see what it does lol.

This one I actually didnt notice. i thought it was just a better up close shot of the default Raptor.

This one had me interested the most when I spotted it. At 1st I thought it was a variation on the Pachycephalosaurus, but it seems almost all the dinos shown are a variation of Raptor, and then there was the stony hands like you said, that kind of made me think it had boulders for hands like boxing gloves lol.

And yeah, this one actually confused me the most. When I had watched the trailer and saw it, I didnt pay much attention to it, but upon rewatching it and remembering that this is about humans vs dinos, that it couldnt be like an enemy helicopter or anything. But at 1st it really came off as like an enemy helicarrier.

I read a line on the webpage, describing «enormous t-rexes towering over the horizon». I wonder if that’s just a way to say that the t-rex is generally big, or if it’s meant literally? Like the bosses in Serious Sam, haha! How awesome would that be?

I think it was an exaggeration and meant to describe that the T-Rex can be seen from long distance away.

Yeah lol sounds like a raid boss a little bit. I personally hope not lol cause then itll definitely make it hard to take on solo lol.

I don’t think it’ll be impossible.

We don’t know if there will be difficulties. So lower difficulty would be easier to take out T-Rex.

And since this is played as group of three, if there’s no other human players, then it could be you and two AI bots.

Or if it’s truly just human player alone with no support from AI bots, then that would be hardcore against a pack of Raptors and so on.

There could be stealth approach to increase odds. I’ve no idea if we’re going to be able to set traps or baits.

Interesting to hear your takes guys  Again not saying anything but very good brainstorming

Altalon coming in with the bait and tease :joy:
And idk. I personally hope it has a scaling difficulty. Kind of like Monster Hunter or Remnant from the Ashes, where it increases the difficulty depending on how many people are in the group. That way it isnt impossible solo, but at the same time, it doesnt get easier the more people are in the group. It also makes it so that AI companions dont need to be programmed.
Im honestly dont feel like the game has a stealth approach to it…but thats pure personal speculation I got from the vibes of the trailer. Besides, Im pretty sure dinos had good enough noses that they would be able to detect you, unless you can cloak or mask your scent. But on that note, there probably will be like a trapper/hunter type character that specializes in traps and stuff like that.
